Power Comparison of Exact Unconditional Tests for Comparing Two Binomial Proportions
The powers of six exact, unconditional tests for comparing two binomial proportions are studied. Total sample sizes range from 20 to 100 with balanced and imbalanced designs included. Some previously proposed tests are found to have poor power for imbalanced designs. Two new tests, confidence interval modifications of Boschloo’s and Suissa and Shuster’s tests, are found to have the best powers....
متن کاملSmall-sample comparisons of confidence intervals for the difference of two independent binomial proportions
This paper compares the exact small-sample achieved coverage and expected lengths of fivemethods for computing the confidence interval of the difference of two independent binomial proportions. We strongly recommend that one of these be used in practice. The first method we compare is an asymptotic method based on the score statistic (AS) as proposed by Miettinen and Nurminen [1985. Comparative ...
متن کاملRecommended confidence intervals for two independent binomial proportions.
The relationship between two independent binomial proportions is commonly estimated and presented using the difference between proportions, the number needed to treat, the ratio of proportions or the odds ratio. Several different confidence intervals are available, but they can produce markedly different results. Some of the traditional approaches, such as the Wald interval for the difference b...
